The Summit: One Year Ago!
An unprecedented meeting of mayors from 23 cities around the world gathered in Montreal to discuss issues related to diversity and social inclusion in cities and metropolises.
In a context where cities are faced with increasing diversity, the search for a balance between openness and vigilance is a necessity.
The discussions within the Summit resulted in the signing of the Montreal Declaration on Living Together, a formal commitment of mayors for the creation of the International Observatory of Mayors on Living Together, a tool of collaboration and exchanges of best practices related to “living together.”
The launch of the Observatory is an opportunity to mark the first anniversary of this landmark summit, as well as the commitment of its members throughout the past year.
During the past year, several new members have joined the 23 founding members.
